About the organizers

Korean Publishers Association was founded on March 15, 1947. Established in 1947, the Korean Publishers Association now boasts of a member of 650 publishing companies. KPA represented Korea as the guest of honor country in the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2005, Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2009, Beijing International Book Fair in 2012, and Tokyo International Book Fair in 2013, and also hosted major international events including the 28th IPA congress in 2008. By participating in major international book fairs, KPA has endeavored to facilitate more exchanges between Korean and international publishers and to promote the reading culture in Korea.

Brief History

1947: Founded on March 15
1995: Organized the Seoul International Book Fair for the first time
2001: Hosted the general assembly of APPA (Asian Pacific Publishers Association)
2008: Hosted the 28th IPA Congress (International Publishers Association)
2012: Represented Korea as the Guest of Honor Country during the Beijing International Book Fair
2013: Represented Korea as the Guest of Honor Country during the Tokyo International Book Fair
2014: Organized programs as the Country of Market Focus during the London Book Fair
2015: Represented Korea as the Focus Country during the New Delhi World Book Fair
2016: Represented Korea as the Guest of Honor Country during Livre Paris
2017: Will represent Korea as the Guest of Honor Country during the Istanbul International Book Fair
